REMEMBER THE FUTURE.

Ben Affleck. Photo: Paramount

Computer software engineer Michael Jennings (Ben Affleck) is hired by Jimmy Rethrick (Aaron Eckhart) for an assignment; Jennings’s memory of the job is subsequently erased… but he’s horrified to learn that he’s walked into a trap. We’re all equally horrified to see director John Woo make another mediocre action movie in Hollywood. This one is about the future, but Woo clearly wasn’t able to see what was about to go wrong. Affleck plays a traditional Hitchcock hero, a man on the run without a memory; neither he nor Uma Thurman and Eckhart are particularly engaging.

2003-U.S. 119 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by John Woo. Novella: Philip K. Dick. Cast: Ben Affleck (Michael Jennings), Uma Thurman (Rachel Porter), Aaron Eckhart (Jimmy Rethrick), Paul Giamatti, Colm Feore, Joe Morton… Michael C. Hall.
