EVERY HEART TELLS A TALE.

In 1830, detective Augustus Landor (Christian Bale) is hired to investigate the mysterious death and desecration of a West Point cadet; there, he gets help from another cadet, Edgar Allan Poe (Harry Melling). There are times when this adaptation of the novel resembles ”The Name of the Rose”, if only superficially. This historical thriller also has mysterious killings, set in a place with its own code and rules. It’s winter and our two investigators are looking into the strange, ritual nature of the murders. It’s an intriguing film, handsomely shot, with dedicated lead performances… but the final twist is hard to believe.
