In Pinochet’s Chile, Carmen (Aline Küppenheim) is asked by Father Sánchez (Hugo Medina) to look after an injured young man (Nicolás Sepúlveda), slowly getting involved in the resistance against the dictatorship. For her feature directing debut, actress Manuela Martelli looked into the shameful past of her country, examining the fear and courage from a woman’s perspective. The story follows the awakening of a person who’s enjoying considerable protection from the regime, showing signs of cracks in the façade, but never generates much tension or emotion.
