As John Wick’s (Keanu Reeves) war with the High Table escalates, a senior member (Bill Skarsgård) hires an old friend of Wick’s, Caine (Donnie Yen), to kill him. In spite of familiar flaws from previous entries, this insanely epic sequel works. The story and the villain are less than engaging, but the film is salvaged by a wicked sense of humor and imagination that really comes through in long, wild, meticulously choreographed action sequences that take place in several cities, with Paris serving as the pièce de résistance. There’s something oddly endearing about Reeves as Wick, but Yen is also fun to watch as a blind hitman.
