THE GREATEST MURDER EVER STAGED.
London, 1953; Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) and Constable Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) join forces to find out who murdered an American director (Adrien Brody) who was set to turn Agatha Christie’s ”The Mousetrap” into a movie. Two British TV talents wrote and directed this uneven yet lovable comedy that has a lot of fun with the whodunit genre and the West End. The theater and city locations are an attractive part of a film that offers amusing dialogue and a terrific cast, including Rockwell and Ronan’s odd couple of coppers. Especially the latter is irresistible as a naive, enthusiastic theater and movie buff.
