Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins

A LEGENDARY WARRIOR. HIS EPIC ORIGIN STORY.

Henry Golding and Samara Weaving. Photo: Paramount Pictures

A martial arts fighter (Henry Golding) tries to join a ninja society, but has ulterior motives; when he was a kid, his father was murdered and now he wants revenge. After two largely lambasted films in the G.I. Joe series, another attempt was made to breathe life into this franchise in the shape of a spin-off focusing on a character previously played by Ray Park. Golding may be a breath of fresh air, but the overall casting and story are much too anonymous. Not even a few giant anacondas are thrilling enough.

2021-U.S. 121 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Robert Schwentke. Cast: Henry Golding (Snake Eyes), Andrew Koji (Tomisaburo ”Tommy” Arashikage/Storm Shadow), Úrsula Corberó (Ana DeCobray/Baroness), Samara Weaving, Haruka Abe, Takehiro Hira.
